Field tested air starter trouble-shooting tips:
1. Be sure to maintain light oil in your vane air or gas starter lubrication system.
2. Do not lubricate turbine air starters.
3. Do not exceed the maximum PSI/BAR rating stamped on the air starter.
4. The speed of a partially running engine can prematurely disengage the starter prior to all cylinders firing; killing the start sequence.
5. When re-orientating a starter housing (clocking), do not separate the housings from each other, as damage will occur.
6. Locate the relay valve as close as possible to the starter.
7. Keep spares on hand for critical equipment
